Newport, RI --- NewportFed is pleased to
announce that the 16th Annual NewportFed
Half-Marathon and 5K Road Race has been
scheduled for Sunday, October 7th. Each
year hundreds of southern New England’s
best distance runners gather in Middletown,
Rhode Island for what always promises to
be a premier fall running event.
The 13.1 mile race takes place along one
of the most scenic race courses around New
England and always draws a
large crowd of spectators to view what always
promises to be a thrilling event.
In addition to the Half-Marathon that includes
a Wheelchair Division there is also a 5K
Road Race.
This year’s Half-Marathon is scheduled
to begin at 9 am (Wheelchair Division at
8:50 am) at the “Y” at 792 Valley
Road in Middletown with the 5K Race starting
at the same location at 9:10 am.
Cash awards, both male and female, are
given in a number of categories. All proceeds
from the race help to benefit
the Newport County YMCA Sports Scholarship
Program. The race is sanctioned by USATF/New
England.
